Claiming a South Dakota Lottery Prize
If you are a winner of a South Dakota Lottery prize, congratulations! We hope it makes your day better :-)
Claiming your prize payout is a simple process that can be completed in person or by mail.
For prizes of $599 or lower, you can claim your prizes at any South Dakota Lottery claim centre (see below). Prizes of $600 or more must be claimed at a South Dakota Lottery office or by mail. To claim a prize by mail, you must first complete a claim form, sign the back of their winning ticket, and include a copy of your government-issued photo ID. The claim form and winning ticket should be mailed to the South Dakota Lottery office at 711 E Wells Ave., Pierre, SD 57501 for processing.
For prizes of $5,000 or more, you must also complete a claims validation process, which includes an interview with a lottery official, a criminal background check, and verification of the winning ticket. The lottery office will contact the you to schedule the interview and provide further instructions.
Winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. Unclaimed prizes are forfeited and returned to the prize pool or allocated to a special fund, depending on the game.
